Coursera Offers Online Disaster Preparedness Course

posted Jun 30, 2015, 4:39 PM by Steve Taffee
A few months ago I completed an online course from the University of Pittsburg, offered by way of the online teaching company Coursera. It was quite good, and I am happy to recommend it as an introductory or refresher course on disaster preparedness. The course, available at https://www.coursera.org/learn/disaster-preparedness, is free for anyone. If you want a course Certificate of Completion for work or continuing education units, there is a fee attached. The instructor is Michael Beech, from U-Pitt school if nursing. He knows his stuff, whether it is medical treatment to outdoor survival skills. He has a down-home way of explaining things that will appeal to both the novice and the expert.
