CERVIS MEMBER DATABASE PRIVACY

What information do we collect? 

We collect information from you when you register with the CERT CERVIS database. When registering on our site you will be asked to enter your name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number and other information necessary for us to operate the CERT program efficiently and safely.

What do we use your information for? 

Any of the information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways: 
  1. To manage the Menlo Park Fire Protection District CERT organization.
    • Your information will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company for any reason whatsoever, without your consent.
  2. To send periodic emails. In addition, we may need to reach you by phone or SMS during CERT mobilizations.
    • The email address you provide is used to send you information about CERT including meetings, training opportunities, exercises, public service opportunities, elections, and to conduct other CERT business.
    • All CERT members must agree to receive such email messages.

How do we protect your information? 

CERVIS uses a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information.
  • CERVIS uses HTTPS connections to encrypt information between your computer and the CERVIS registration database.
  • Data is encrypted into the CERVIS registration database.

Who can see my information?

  • You can see your own information.
  • The Coordinator of the CERT neighborhood in which you reside and members of the Board of Directors of CERT have limited access to your data including your name and contact information, training, interest areas, and special equipment.
  • The CERT database administrators have access to the database as needed to maintain the database and troubleshoot issues, and keeps all information discovered during such maintenance and troubleshooting confidential.

Does CERVIS use cookies? 

  • Yes. Cookies are small files that CERVIS transfers to your computer through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the site to recognize your browser and capture and retain certain information.

Do we disclose any information to outside parties? 

  • We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties any personally identifiable information.
  • We may release your information to comply with the law or to protect the rights of MPFPD or MPFPD CERT.

California Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

  • We are in compliance with the California Online Privacy Protection Act
  • As part of the California Online Privacy Protection Act, all users of our site may make any changes to their information at anytime by logging into their profile and editing their information.

Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance 

  • CERT members must be 18 year of age or older. Our website, products and services are all directed to people who are at least 18 years of age or older.
