  Janiele Maffei, Chief Mitigation Officer

California Earthquake Authority

Janiele Maffei was hired as CEA’s first Chief Mitigation Officer in May 2011 and
became Director of Research in 2015. Currently her responsibilities include managing
the California Residential Mitigation Program (CRMP) and that program’s first retrofit
incentive program Earthquake Brace and Bolt (EBB) as well as various research
projects and other mitigation efforts. Janiele attended University of California Berkeley,
earning an AB in Architecture and an MS in engineering.

Her presentation will cover:

• Earthquake risk in our area
• What you can do to protect and strengthen your house against earthquake damage
• Information on for the Earthquake Brace + Bolt grant program that can provide up to $3,000 to seismic retrofit your home.
  
• New supplementary grants coming soon to underserved neighborhoods
• Details on how to register and qualify for the grant programs
