PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Provide support to the Office of Emergency Management in supporting the lead CERT instructors with in-class and virtual training support/ teaching. Co-Instructors must be active CERT volunteers and will commit to becoming proficient in all the skillsets as well as developing strong teaching and coaching skills. Co- Instructors will become subject matter experts through extra training, certifications, and/or by the nature of their professional work. Co-Instructors will work with the lead CERT instructors with providing logistical and class-room support.
VOLUNTEER FUNCTIONS:

Co- Instructors will assist with in-class and online instruction of CERT Basic curriculum.

Co- Instructors will successfully be demonstrating all CERT required hands on skills and demonstrate the ability to coach students.

Co- Instructors will maintain safety awareness and the ability to intervene and stop unsafe actions.•Co- Instructors will coordinate class scheduling and logistics with the Lead CERT Instructor.

Co- Instructors will maintain awareness and stay abreast of training curriculum updates and changes.

Co- Instructors will establish a welcoming and supportive classroom environment during class delivery.

Attend meetings to coordinate efforts.

Co- Instructor will commit to completing the CERT train the trainer course.
VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS: High school education or equivalent. Documentation of successfully completing a CERT Basic program. Strong communications and presentation skills that will need to be demonstrated via teach back during the interview process. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work effectively with the public, other employees and agencies. Ability to meet the physical demands of the position as established by the Department. Must be 18 or over.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES: Must be able to document the successful completion of a CERT Basic program. Live Scan background check required.0
PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION: Moderately strenuous at times, lift and carry 50 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over video conferencing; bend, stretch, twist, reach, stoop, balance, squat, climb, crawl, kneel or assume crouched body positions.
